The Russian bear has already qualified for the world cup in Brazil next year, and that even ahead of Portugal. This naturally has to be marked with a new shirt from Adidas, who took over the shirt sponsoring from Nike back in 2008. In 2009 they introduced a dark red colour for the home shirt, and they have now gone back to this idea with this new shirt.

Over the next year, the Russians will wear a dark red shirt with golden accent colours that provide the shirt with an elegant and stylish look. In addition, they have found space for a tone-in-tone pattern on the left side of the shirt, where the dark red colour almost cracks a cheeky little design detail. On the sleeves, Adidas have added little mesh stripes for ventilation, which are also coloured as the Russian flag another nifty little detail.

The shirt is primarily inspired by the impressive Russian aerospace history, and especially the space travelling done by cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin as the first man ever is celebrated. It is the thought that determined young men can do great things with the support of the nation, which Adidas have focused on. Therefore, 'Russia' is also written in Russian in the back of the neck with the national colours, complemented by a couple of stars, which symbolise space.
