Cristiano Ronaldo boots | Timeline, video, signature boots and much more

We love football boots at Unisport! And when it comes to football boots, Cristiano Ronaldo must be one of the most influential players of all time. Well, he is definitely the guy with the most signature boots. Therefore we will now dig into the world of Cristiano’s football boots. So whether you love football boots or Cristiano Ronaldo - or maybe both - this is the perfect place to spend a few minutes. Let’s go!

Cristiano Ronaldo is not only one of the greatest football players in history. He is also one of the greatest sports brands as well. Therefore it is no wonder that he has been a huge figure in Nike’s branding of the Mercurial silo since 2003, where the Portuguese signed for them. Besides always playing in the latest colourway of the Mercurial, CR7 has also had a lot of signature boots throughout his tremendous career. Therefore we will look at some of CR7’s most memorable signature boots, JayMike’s Top 10 about Cristiano’s signature boots, the current pair of boots for the Portuguse superstar and last but not least - a timeline with aaaall of the boots worn by the great Cristiano Ronaldo. Then you can check how many pairs of boots you and Ronaldo have had in common.

Cristiano Ronaldo signature boots

Nike Mercurial Superfly II CR ‘Safari’

Of course, we have to start where it all began. This is probably the most iconic and famous signature boot in the whole world. I mean - it even got a safari boot re-make in the summer of 2020. That’s how iconic it is. It is of course the Safari boot from 2010. It was Cristiano’s first signature boot, and what a way to kick off a signature boot era. The black and white safari print, with subtle white and black arrows - and then the big orange swoosh, alongside the orange studs. A real beauty and of course it needs to be on our list of most memorable Cristiano Ronaldo signature boots.

Launched: October 2010

Nike Mercurial Vapor Superfly III CR7 ‘Pinstripes’

The third signature boot in Cristiano’s collection was also a one-of-a-kind boot. And also looking a bit safari-ish. But this boot was even more crazy - this boot had a split design. On the left boot’s medial side it was primarily grey/silver with very thin dark blue stripes and on the lateral side it had thick stripes of grey/silver and dark blue. The opposite was the case on the right foot. The swoosh was orange, as well as the details on the boot. Ronaldo wore these in a Madrid Derby shortly after it launched and scored 2 goals - probably because of the boots, right?

Launched: November 2011

Nike Mercurial Vapor VIII CR ‘Love to win - Hate to lose’

This one actually launched a year after the pinstriped boot above - and it took Cristiano Ronaldo and his signature boots to a completely different path. A path of more subtle and classy signature boots, without too much craziness and obscure designs on it. And especially this one was more understated, as it is more or less black. But of course it’s not only black. In the area where the soleplate and upper meets something suddenly happens. A blue and pink symphony meets and makes this boot look extremely good. Inspired by the name of the boot - we love this colourway and hate that it isn’t available anymore.

Launched: November 2012

Nike Mercurial Vapor IX CR 'Galaxy'

This boot is also very classy - but still spacy. The Galaxy Vapor featured a night sky, with bright stars shining all over. To us, this is a true masterpiece. A bit subtle in its design, because it just looks like a black and blue boot with a silver swoosh. But when you get close and get to see all the details, this boot is still something out of this world. We think it’s a very fitting boot for a superstar like Cristiano Ronaldo. And as JayMike argues in the video below “CR7 is the ultimate Galactico” - so why shouldn’t he have a boot with a galaxy on it?

Launched: October 2013

Nike Mercurial Superfly CR7 ‘Quinhentos’

This boot celebrates and pays a tribute to one of the greatest Mercurials ever - the Vapor III. And that’s why it needs a honourable mention. Vapor III had a very slick design with a colour on the front of the boot, which slowly faded into another colour on the back of the heel. This is also the case on the CR7 ‘Quinhentos’ boot, which paid a tribute to the silver and red version of the Vapor III. At the same time, Nike launched a similar colourway called ‘324k Gold’, which paid a tribute to the white and gold Vapor III. Both colourways could be on this list, because they are so legendary!

Launched: March 2016

Nike Mercurial Superfly CR7 SE ‘Cristiano’

Even though we’ve already looked at some very special designs such as the Safari and the Pinstripes, this might be the most bold design of them all. A black, white and gold boot. Well, that doesn’t sound that bold… But when the boot is designed with a big ‘CR7STIANO’ on the lateral side. Well, it suddenly becomes one of the most memorable designs in the history of CR7 signature boots. The boots were made to celebrate Cristiano’s first Serie A trophy with Juventus. And that's why it got those specific colours - to pay tribute to the classy Juve’ colours and his first Championship in Italy.

Launched: May 2019

Honorable mentions

We also have a few honorable mentions, which didn’t make the cut, but still are a huge part of Cristiano Ronaldo’s boot dynasty.

Nike Mercurial Dream Speed

Lately Cristiano Ronaldo has also been teamed up with other great players in making unique football boots. We are of course talking about the Dream Speed series. We’ve already seen four generations of the Dream Speed boot, which, besides CR7, has been endorsed by players such as Kylian Mbappe, Sam Kerr, Erling Haaland and a few more hand picked players. The Dream Speed boots have been highly popular and with the latest being launched in March 2021, you can still get your hands on the popular Dream Speed boots.

Nike Mercurial CR7 Chapter series

Talking about a series of boots, Cristiano Ronaldo has also had a series of signature boots, which focused on his journey from his childhood all the way to the top of the world. The series was divided into chapters and ended up being a series of seven football boots - named Chapter 1-7 and each with its own title, such as ’Savage Beauty’ and ‘Cut to Brilliance'. It started in 2015 and ended in 2018 with the seventh chapter called ‘Built on dreams’, referring to where it all started. In Cristiano’s dreams as a child, where he dreamt of being the world's greatest footballer.

Cristiano Ronaldo's latest signature boot
