The midfielder first rose to prominence in the Dutch Eredivisie, playing for Feyenoord and PSV Eindhoven, respectively. He was then snapped up by Newcastle, who spotted his great versatility in the midfield. Wijnaldum is capable of taking on different roles both defensively and offensively, and he got to demonstrate his abilities at Newcastle. He bagged an impressive 11 goals in his PL debut season and then went on to become one of highest rated midfielders in the PL at Liverpool. He cemented his status as an Anfield fan favourite when he scored two extremely important goals in the CL semi-final 2018/2019 against Barcelona, while ‘The Reds’ went on to win the tournament. He later went on ti play for PSG and AS Roma.
