Pantofola d'Oro, is a family owned shoemaker company. It was founded in 1886 in the Italian city of Ascoli Piceno. Initially the company was named “Calzaturificio Lazzarini”. These days however, the company is called “Pantofola d’Oro” and the story goes that the best British allround player of all time; John Charles, one day tried on a pair of boots from the company. The reason being that a lot of his teammates had heard about a brand, the was dedicated to craftsmanship and a supreme quality. Upon trying them he shouted “Questa non è una scarpa, è una pantofola. Una Pantofola d'Oro!". This roughly translates into “These aren’t boots, they’re slippers. Golden slippers!” Charles had then established the brand as Pantofola d’Oro, which translates to golden slipper in Italian. It is a legendary story, and the boots have through their history had an amazing collection of superstars as a part of the Pantofola d’Oro family. At the most critical steps (trimming, sewing and gluing), even the smallest errors will cause the boots to be discarded. The manufacturing process is demanding and complicated. Supple kangaroo leather upper The Lazzarini has been designed with a flexible upper from the very softest kangaroo leather, available. The soft leather shapes to the foot, creating a feeling that the boots were custom made for you. This allows you to get a natural feel and touch on the ball, and an unparalleled comfort. The mid- and front foot is designed with as few stitches as possible, to allow for a cleaner striking surface and to reduce the level of water intake. Out sole and stud configuration is designed to offer comfort, protection and stability. A natural flexibility in the outsole, allows for a stable midfoot and a springy front foot - providing you with a great set off.
