RasenBallsport Leipzig, commonly known as RB Leipzig is German football club based in Leipzig. The club was founded in 2009 by Red Bull, built upon the remains of SSV Markranstädt - with the intention of having the club in the top tier Bundesliga within 8 years. RB Leipzig plays its home matches at the Red Bull Arena. In its first season in 2009/10, RB Leipzig dominated the Oberliga Süd and was promoted as champions. RB Leipzig won the 2012/13 Regionalliga Nordost without conceding a single defeat and was promoted to the 3. Bundesliga - finish 2nd in the 2013/14 season. Obviosuly the succes continued here, and the club was promoted after its first season. On the 8th of May 2016, RB Leipzig ensured promotion to the Bundesliga for the 2016/17 season.
