adidas bound | Introducing the new Arsenal 2019/20 Home Shirt
25 years after their last cooperation, adidas and Arsenal are finally back together with a new 2019/20 home shirt inspired by the original red and white design. A true tribute to the earlier partnership The Gunners and adidas shared in the 80’s and 90’s.
The last time we saw Arsenal wearing the well-known red and white adidas kit was between 1986-1994, where we witnessed star players such as Ian Wright, David Seaman and Tony Adams dazzle on the pitch. Being a historical period for the club, these legends partook in helping the club winning multiple trophies wearing this classical shirt, including the English Championship in ’89 and ’91, the FA Cup in ’93 and the UEFA Cup in ’94 – a truly successful period in the history of Arsenal.
Now The Gunners are ready with a new (or should we say old) shirt supplier, as they bring back some of the most iconic Gunners shirts ever with adidas as their official shirt sponsor. Staying true to the traditional Arsenal Home Shirt, the new 2019/20 Arsenal Home Shirt is red based with the iconic white sleeves, just like the shirt from ’86. The shirt furthermore contains the recognized three white stripes across the shoulders, symbolizing the adidas trademark.
In moving further, the adidas and Fly Emirates logo is naturally white as well as the collar, although the collar and the sleeves cuffs has a thin navy line as well, making it a bit more modern and stylish.
Though no extravagant elements have been added, the left side of the sleeves contain a patch saying “Visit Rwanda”, as seen on the images above.
The iconic new kit is finalized with classic white shorts and socks with three red stripes and navy lines embracing the red and white club abbreviation, AFC.
We hope that Lacazette, Aubameyang and Mkhitaryan will shine just like the legends mentioned above, while making sure to bring trophies home to Emirates.
